Model for VERDE FORMATION: public art concept for the town of Cottonwood, limestone, sandstone and basalt, 6 x 28 x 30 inches, 1988.
VERDE FORMATION: limestone, sandstone and basalt boulders, 6.5 x 30 x 30 feet, Riverfront Park, Cottonwood, AZ, 1989. Commissioned by the town of Cottonwood with an Arizona Commission for the Arts Art in Public Places grant.
Alternate view, VERDE FORMATION. These boulders were gathered from the Prescott National Forest with a permit from, and under the supervision of, the US Forest Service. The red sandstone, white limestone and black basalt are visible in the colorful cliffs surrounding the Verde Valley in which Cottonwood is located. As in much of our outdoor installations, this piece creates an environment while it evokes a sense of place. |
